We opened Flynn’s because we wanted the sort of deli we love visiting ourselves: full of excellent food, but free from fuss or snobbery. You do not need to know the name of a grape, the age of a cheese or the correct pronunciation of a particular salami. Curiosity is more than enough.
What makes a good delicatessen?
A good deli is not just a shop with expensive jars. It should edit the enormous world of food into a selection worth your attention. Every product needs a reason to be there: flavour, provenance, usefulness, a brilliant producer or simply the ability to make Tuesday’s dinner considerably better.
It should also offer advice. Tell us what you are cooking, who you are buying for or what you normally enjoy, and we will point you in the right direction. Recommendations are part of the pleasure of using an independent deli.
Artisan cheese and charcuterie
Our counters bring together cheeses and cured meats from Wales, Britain and further afield. You might find a familiar mature cheddar beside a washed-rind cheese you have never tried, or Welsh charcuterie beside classic European styles.
We can help you choose a single cheese for supper, assemble a balanced cheeseboard or select charcuterie for a gathering. We will also talk honestly about quantities, storage and what will work with the rest of your menu.
Handmade bagels, bakery and lunch
Flynn’s is a place to eat as well as shop. Our bagels and breads are made in-house, and our lunch menu is built around the same ingredients we are proud to sell. That means good bread, properly chosen fillings and food prepared with care rather than assembled to meet the lowest possible price.
You can stop for coffee, collect a takeaway or settle in for lunch. Some of our favourite moments are when somebody passing by spots a friend, comes inside and turns a quick coffee into a proper catch-up.
Wine without the performance
Our wine selection is chosen for drinking, not displaying. There are bottles for weeknight supper, dinner parties, presents and celebrations, as well as wines to explore at our tasting events. If you tell us your budget and what you like—or even what you dislike—we can help.
Welsh produce, pantry food and gifts
The shelves are filled with things we genuinely rate: preserves, olive oils, sauces, conservas, chocolates, crackers, drinks and plenty of Welsh produce. Many work brilliantly as gifts, and we can bring them together in a personalised hamper for collection, local delivery or eligible nationwide delivery.
Events and a little more than retail
Flynn’s was always intended to be a third space: somewhere between home and work where people can eat, learn and spend time together. Our tastings, supper clubs, live music and special evenings are an extension of that idea.
