A serious, cellar-worthy Douro red with a deep garnet colour and the kind of dark-fruit richness you want when dinner’s a little more than “something on toast”. Expect black fruit, jam and a warming spice character, all neatly wrapped in well-judged oak. On the palate it’s generous and voluminous, with tannins that are present but polished, carrying through to a long, confident finish.

This is a brilliant match for slow-cooked beef, roast lamb, rich mushroom dishes, and anything coming off the grill. Decant if you can, and let it open up in the glass.
