Producer Story
Founded in 1730 in Oporto, Butler, Nephew & Co. has a rich history rooted in the early days of port trade. Originally established as Burmester, Nash & Cº, the company evolved through generations, taking its current name in 1829. Known for their commitment to quality, the house was acquired by Gonzalez Byass in the 1950s and has been under the ownership of Stephen Christie since 1979.
Christie has steered the brand toward exceptional tawny and white ports. After visiting Porto in early 2024, we reached out to Stephen and helped facilitate the brand’s introduction to the UK market—a partnership we're especially proud of.
